Government allocates € 25 million for innovation in transport and logistics09-07-2008 | press release | subject: Innovation As part of the agreement reached by the transport industry and the government, the Ministries of Economic Affairs and Transport, Public Works & Water Management have promised to actively support innovation programs in this industry that meet the criteria of the Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC). Over the next four years the aforementioned Ministries will allocate a total of € 25 million for the realization of such programs. The SAC has recently given a positive assessment on the vision paper ‘Logistics and Supply Chains' by the Van Laarhoven committee. In this committee logistics service suppliers TNT and DHL, shippers Unilever and Mexx, universities EUR and TU/e, mainports Schiphol and Rotterdam as well as the Logistics Alliance work together on innovation in transport and logistics. Their ambition is to become Europe's market leader in directing international flows of goods. The positive assessment by the SAC means that the road is clear for developing this ambition and these visions into actual programs. These are expected to be submitted by the Van Laarhoven committee for evaluation by the SAC this Fall. Ministry of Economic Affairs |
